the box you asked what is this, i believe is the sensitivity gain box for the cruise control system, i removed all that electro, mechanical, vacuum junk and replaced it with a rostra cruise control its all electronic plugs ditevtly into the 4 wire plug from the turn signal switch, it works great and i cleaned up my engine bay removing all that oem stuff, i would chemical flush the cooling system to completely clean it out what you see thru the filler cap opening may lead you to believe the syste is clean but every time i chem flush and backflush it with the prestone flush kit i always get a lot of junk out and run it till i see clear water. just my 2 cents

Also, have seen that 3M Di-Noc is described on the Metro Restyling site as meant for interior; how has it held up? I’ve got a sample of Marine Teak from there that mimics factory marine teak really well - doesn’t have the pixelated wood grain like a lot of the printed versions, but am concerned about its long term durability.
Apologies for the delay. I haven't been on much in the last year. It's been several months since I've logged on the forum. The 3M dinoc has held up great. It still looks good today. The lighter stuff I wrapped the trim with was not 3M and it shows. I'll probably bite the bullet in the future and buy the repop stuff. The correct profile trim pieces weren't available when I redid my woodgrain, so I passed on the cheapie stuff.

I no longer have the box installed as it got yanked with the 360, but will check into the modern cruise control. The LS was completely disassembled and cleaned prior to purchase, and I keep up with maintenance, changing antifreeze and hoses every couple of years, so I shouldn't have to worry about buildup. :-bd

Sorry I can’t remember….. if motor is DBW and a 3rd gen the cruise control logic is in the TAC module, it just needs the correct pin to have 12v applied and a 3way momentary switch for Set/coast and resume/accel. If it’s a 4th or 5th gen it needs a controller from Dakota Digital or similar. If it is DBC, then an OEM cruise module can be adapted or the Rosta unit installed. FYI Rosta private labels virtually every other system from anyone else.
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.

Mine is DBC as it controls the TV for the 727 very effectively via the throttle body. :-bd
I'll have to do some research and figure how to adapt the rosta unit to the TB since both cable connections are occupied.

I’d call Bow-tie Overdrives, they have a few brackets available that might make that simple. If not I don’t think it would be too challenging to modify the linkage plate on the throttle body.

Well, it's been awhile. Guess it's time for a few updates.

Sold my WS6, so only one LS powered ride in the garage now. Didn't want to sell it. Knee pain pretty much has ended stick shift life for now.

Since it was my fun daily, I wanted something fun to replace it.

Drove 3 hours away and picked up the new to me daily.

Has its share of rust to deal with, but not as bad as many I've found locally that have been turned into woods toys.

Time to get wrenching on my new driver. I have big plans for this Jeep. Ever since I seen the special editions back in the late 80s, I've wanted this package.

Scored some rust free fenders. Cleaned them up, sealed the seams with seam sealer, some Rustoleum on the inner fenders, and Durabak in the wheel wells!

Off with the rusted out originals, then POR 15 coating on the frame. Then repeat for the other side. Also ditched the hard top and full doors for a set of half doors.

Time to start addressing the typical issues in the tub.

The cowl under the hinges wasn't as bad as I was fearing, and some wire brush work and POR 15 saved both spots. Came back with Rustoleum primer and paint for additional protection before throwing the hinges back on.
Image

The lower tub rust was typical.
Image
Image
Image

I got rid of the garbage lift springs and cobbled together rear driveshaft for some soft ride stocker replacement springs and Tom Woods shaft.
Image
Image

Looks much better now
Image

While I was at it, I removed the track bars and replaced the sway bar and all shocks. The two rear main eye spring hangers were questionable, so those got replaced as well.

Did the 1" body mount replacement as well.

On to the driver's side ;)
This side was worse and needed a new front pan.

A small patch on the passenger side pan...

And some more seam sealer

Went ahead and knocked the windshield out since it was cracked and held in by Gorilla tape.

After the Wrangler was wrapped up, I set my sights on the big trip we planned.
Swapped the Aluminum crossflow radiator into radio Flyer and got a fresh set of meats installed.
Image

Then it was off on the dilapidated interstate system we get to benefit from for a trek west!

First night (and the last night on the return home) we stayed at Petit Jean State park in Arkansas.
Image
Image

Wish we could have stayed longer and hiked some of the trails.

Next stop, Oooooooooooooooooklahoma......

We picked the perfect spot, right on the lake in the Buckhorn campground of the Chickasaw National Recreation area (formerly known as Platt National Park).
Image
Image

Got some kayaking in!
Image

Saw some wildlife:

Kept a promise I made to myself about 12 years ago and returned for another round at this fine establishment. Also took orders from friends and family and grabbed over a dozen frozen pies to bring back home. :D

All in, we were there about 5 days.
Got to enjoy the area of Sulpher, OK.

Another favorite place in the Sulpher area:

Of course, road tripping a 40 year old jeep will have casualties.

Lost a wheel center cap somewhere in Arkansas
Image

The horrendous roads in both Memphis and Oklahoma took their toll on the exhaust system, so a quick patch up at a shop that specialized in LS swaps seemed fitting.
Image

Dipped down into Texas for some exploring:

Finally loaded up and headed back home after a week away.
Image

Another stop at a diner we don't enjoy in TN. Jimmy's Egg was definitely cool.
Image

Finally home after 1900 miles!
Image

Radio Flyer went into the shop immediately to do a rebuild of the Y pipe and catalytic area of the exhaust. It had failed/cracked in 3 locations! I welded on a new flange at the catalytic convertor, repaired an exhaust hanger near the muffler, and welded in a short, braided flex coupling in the Y pipe.

I also addressed the excessive oil burn at highway speeds by replacing the driver's side valve cover/pcv with the later, updated version. Oil consumption so far since has been non existent. :-bd :fsj:

Those pies are the best!!!!

Lots of familiar spots, I’ve kayaked at Chickasaw as well. Did you spend any time at Turner Falls? It’s only a couple of miles from the pies, a pretty spot, camped there several times heading to TX.

Absolutely! Well worth the drive back out there.

We seen Turner Falls several years ago before it got popular.
We drove by to get some pics this trip only to discover they charge for use. Not sure if it was that way the last time we were in OK.

We also stopped in again at Two Frogs Grill in Ardmore. Another great place to check out.
