Thank you very much. Yea I've been posting there because it's easy but figured I should start a build thread.dodgerammit wrote:Well, now you know what the defect sticker was for!
Still looks like a viable candidate regardless. Seen your posts on Fakebook's GW page as well. Welcome to the forum!
Yep got it through CA smog, runs and drives well. So the rust is a curve ball but I have new floor pans showing up this week and I will start grinding out rust this weekend. I will order new carpet tonight and get it on the way.devildog80 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 3:14 pm Honestly a pretty solid truck, if you already have it driving, AND passed CA emissions. The rust you have here is minimal, so encouraged you got really lucky with that "hold my beer - watch this" move.
Will be following
Good idea, I should do that. I'm trying to find all of the holes before i get the carpet in. I know that I have had water come in from the doors and the cowl vents. So need to get the vents off and clean that out. As for the doors I need new vapor barriers.devildog80 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 2:21 pm Get the truck in the garage at night, put a bright drop light inside the truck on the floor under the dash, then close the truck and garage door and shut off the interior garage lights. Now crawl around and look under/over/on top/sides of the truck to see if any light comes through. This will let you know if any more rusted spots need tended to, or will validate it is probably windshield/door/cowl seals, that need replaced.
How many beers am I required to have while installing? Should I use any glue for the floor carpet or do all of the seat bolts hold it pretty well? I know the wheel wells require glue.
