Mine has fresh weatherstripping. No moisture problems at all. But I don't want carpet in the back. I like the utilitarian aspect of a cargo area that I can throw bagged mulch or plants in from the garden center, or I can haul my mutt in even if she has muddy paws without worry. Ever since I purchased it 7 years ago, it has been sans rear carpet. I love it that way. Drove it today, misting rain, GSD was in the back, head out the tailgate window. I didn't have to worry about keeping any carpet clean.Srdayflyer wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 3:56 pm i agree, water will get trapped, thats why jeep installed carpet to suck up all the water possible, when new so you could buy another jeep, DUH the problem is every one here steps over a dollar to pick up pennies, replace the DAMN 40 year old rear window and tail gate seals and maybe just maybe you wouldnt have any leaks like when it left the factory, maybe you wouldnt have the rattles and wind noise either, but hey i know you 4dr guys have the added cost of all the added rubber seals
i only have a 2dr model but yoou want to be let in on something i replaced ALL the seals doors/windows/tailgate and guess what i have to roll down a window or slam the doors because it's air tight ,hum what a concept IMO
I've thought about that, but haven't tested it out yet. Also would have to come up with a way to raise the lower sitting strips, but would most likely relocate the strips that sit higher to a recess instead. I simply installed them where they were originally placed from factory.candymancan wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 11:33 pm would the raised metal strip on the floor bump make sliding larger items difficult ? shouldnt it be flush. So the lower strips maybe should be raised up a tad ? Just curious
I dig it. I ended up taping the screw heads in case I needed to take them out later. I like the color.dodgerammit wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 10:47 pm The whole series of updates on my thread, but I did go through with the Durabak smooth tan on mine.
