I would like to retain the stock look with a mat (anyone used BJ’s mat or any other they would recommend) that has the recesses, but feel a layer of blanket type insulation should be installed for sound control.
Is it pretty much one or the other?
Thx

Same on the 74, it was the bare model, no courtesy lights either... so when the soggy padding had to go, I shopped for alternate source of padding and bought the reproduction carpetting from a member... the carpetting was a bit thin, but worked really well, a low cut similar to office carpetting, but with a cushy feel

We may be talking about two different things. I removed the whole interior, it was originally carpeted in the passenger areas, which I am going to replace with one of the molded reproductions using the same insulation under it you mentioned, but my cargo area has a vinyl mat (Bj’s offers a repro), but was wondering if anyone has tried any type of thin insulation under one of these that would still allow the pattern in the vinyl to be seen. BJ’s even states in their description that you must install their vinyl soon on arrival or the pattern will flatten out.

If you used something like the foil bubble type insulation and glued it to the floor in strips. Like in and out of the floor pattern, then you probally could use the bjs mat without loosing the pattern.

Good idea, Does your Wag have the cardboard headliner? I think I can salvage mine, but the insulation is shot, thinking of using the foil backed ones on that as well as the floor. Your thoughts?
