Hey Beth! Great to hear from you. I am sorry you missed 2015. It was a great time. I was actually able to bring my lovely wife along (but we left the jeep at home). I hope you guys can make it this year. How old is the little one now?

I've been thinking that I'd really like to start coming to these. I just got to work on the wife a bit. How's the KOA for motor homes?

Plenty of room for mororhomes. Last fall we took our 30 ft MH to the Ouray KOA and really enjoyed it. We will be doing it again. Hopefully, one of these years, our schedules will work out where we can be there for the FSJ Invasion...

Reserve early. They have a very friendly cancellation policy. July is a busy time for them.

I hope you can make it!

To be honest, I consider that unsafe for that terrain.

I think they should be considered unsafe for any terrain. The tires probably still had about 20% tread in Ouray and when they got that bald I parked the Jeep for a couple of months. Now they're finally getting replaced.

I thought all that shale on Black Bear was supposed to rework your tread as-you-go, right? :p

So anyone have some recommendations on two spots to get? Planning on going this year with my wife a 2 sons (will be 10 months old) and a friend his wife and daughter (2 year old). Never been there and looking for some insight into what sites would be good.

Generally the loudest area is around 47D (party spot). There are nightly campfire gatherings that sometimes are small, sometimes are large, sometimes end early, somtimes end late.

43/44/45 are nice spots. Trees and some shade. Far enough from the party spot, not too far from the bath&showers.
52/52A/52B area is also nice. Again, not too close to the party spot. A little bit less traffic.

Are you tent camping?
