I have an opportunity to purchase an extremely clean 1994 ZJ Grand Cherokee with a 5.2L 4x4 for extremely cheap. Anyone have any advice on these? It has 130k on the odo. Do these motors last? Any problems I should be looking out for?

I have owned 2 5.2 powered ZJ's and each has gone over 250K with no major engine problems. Take it for a test drive and make sure the tranny shifts ok and doesn't slip. At 130k if fluids have been changed it should have plenty of life left in it.

I just sold my ZJ last year. I bought it for $3650.00 in 2004 with 149,000. Drove it 9 years and sold it for 2000.00 with 200,000 miles. Drove and ran awesome the whole time. I had to replace a drivers rear axle, water pump, oxygen sensor, rear hatch lifters, a front panhard, and a starter. Yeah, I think I got my monies worth. Oh, I also did a 3 inch lift for $50.00. I finally sold it so I could get a good price for it still. Good rigs.

Solid rigs. Younger brother bought one at 140k sold it at 295k. Used no oil and no major repairs. I encouraged him to install a Mopar performance computer, and duals, upped the mpg by 2, and that thing would rip the tires loose on pavement all day (full time 4wd).

ZJ's are pretty cheap around here these days. I would just find one with a V8 already in it.

The trans, rad, motor mounts on the frame, etc aren't compatible AMC 6 to 5.2L. Check out Jeep Strokers for a 4.5L or bigger inline 6. More than a few made theirs into a 4.9L with 350 + HP (over that is less reliable however)
