Boobie Grill/Javelin Parking light lense

Post by Knucklehead »

Anyone have one of these that they would be willing to let me borrow long enough to make a mold of it? I am going to try my hand at Resin Casting. :D Never to old to learn a new skill I guess.

I know Flint has at least a pair of them. Hopefully he will chime in and let me borrow one. I have clear lenses I can try my hand at casting, but would REALLY like to reproduce a few sets of the ones pictured if possible.

I will dig around but I think all of my lenses are in pretty poor shape.

The one pictured is sort of the holy grail of those lenses imo. Over $100/pair if you can find them. I might go ahead and practice on a clear set I have. Don't really want to waste a whole bunch of resin though because it isn't exactly cheap.

I used to have a couple of pairs but they were from a '78 AMX/Concord abomination. Keep us posted!

Sweet. Would you mind if I borrowed one so that I could make a mold?

FWIW...the chrome ornament on the lense is a separate piece so if you can find just regular orange lenses the fancy chrome can be added later.

Did not know that. Thanks for the tip. i have a pair of the plain clear lenses with the ring. I can just attempt to cast those in amber plastic then.

Does the chrome ring go over the top of the ring that is molded into the Lense?

I could be wrong but I actually think the 77 AMX has rectangle lights. 78 has round.

The clear and amber lens all come from the same mold regardless of the chrome options. Go for it!

Wow, Cool Jim! :-bd Guessing the grille is not original but looks like a 73/74. Like the one James Bond drove in 1974 Man with Golden Gun.

That is possible. It was wrecked before I got it. The frame was spread apart too far to get an alignment done too. The 304 went into my J4000 and it's sitting in the back of my '68 Travelall now. Tempted to put it in with the TH400 but both need rebuilding and I have a 4.0L and 2wd AW4 to put in already (tcase is divorced)
