I'm not trying to poo poo the weight of the truck but at best it weighs 4800-5200# before throwing stuff in the back. I'm sure it put the GW through an exercise though. 8-)

Wagoneer with me 5300. Plus whatever a th400 and 1339 weighs.. lol so i think total weight was like 12000+ lbs. And yes.. i was rocking my body back and forth going up hills to help it haha as i was dropping to like 40-45 mph.. wide open throttle. Oddly though i never felt any pull of fish tail or anything that felt like the trailer wanted to control my Jeep.

And braking wasnt an issue either. I never felt unsafe even in situations i had to brake hard on. One of which someone ran in front of me at a gas station and i had to stop immediatly.

The only struggle was (moving) at stop lights in town it took a bit to get speed. You deff could feel that weight there. I think this is the reason the 360 is rated 5000lbs. And the 401 is rated 7500lbs. There is no physical diff between wagoneers other than that and gearing. I think the older ones mighta had 3.55 or 3.73 gears and i have 3.31

One hill i was going 30mph up wot.. it was very steep and very long..

So suffice to say that 360 was screaming for more hp/torque lol..

Interestingly enough it never overheated.. got to 220 max up a few hills.. then dropped immediatly.

I often wonder why this J10s frame is 3/16th thick thlugh if it has the same load and towing capacity as a wagoneer.. dana 44s limit your total gvwr and such.. so why is a J10 frame so darn thick. Its confusing. I know off topic

I live in New Zealand and I just bought a 1970 J20 right hand drive 4 on the floor, the things got a pintle hook! The last owner used it on the farm, 1 ton bag of fert on the deck towing a tandem farm trailer with steel beams for a shed. About 2 1/2 tons load. It came with a set of spare 37 inch tyres and rims. A bit of work to do to get it on the road but it shoud look good especially on the 37 inch tyres.
It would be great to find out the original owner, was it military for Scott Base, a few were used for the Fire service.
but first lets get it on the road and do stupid stuff.

Came home from football practice today to see my truck (which doesn’t have a radiator) hooked up to my parents flat trailer. Mind you, they have 3 other vehicles completely capable of towing them. I am definitely not complaining I just found it oddImage. The roof on my parents shop is being done and the trailer parks next to the shop so they needed it out of the way but still oddImage.

Little camper for now, to get wiring redone on the truck, and someday pull bigger. Should easily pull a 26-28 ft newer unit, as they are lighter than those made even 10 years old.

The rear factory step bumper had a hefty piece of steel under the step that the ball bolted thru.

Did a little tow duty today, pulled the Rokit home from a buddy’s house that keeps it used, which is better than me storing for months on end.
