Here's the dash:







The radio, glove box insert and glove box clock still need to be installed... But after the installation. I did a three stage paint- silver metallic base coat, burnt orange overlay, then 6 coats of ppg clear.

Now it's time to work on the steering column and steering wheel.

Man, that is awesome! Nice, deep paint job!

Not a big fan of Orange, but I'm lovin that color...

LOL, I'be never been a fan of orange either, until I saw a 2010 dodge truck at the local dealership with their factory burnt orange color. That's a sweet color, I also like jeep's 1999 inferno red, too.

Overall, keeping the 63 panel it's stock primary color was important to me (white)... But the accent color needed more POP. So that's where the variation of the dodge burnt orange came from. I'd love to paint my j truck that dodge burnt orange.

Man that looks great! Three stage really isn't as scary as it seems. Your right that orange makes it pop. Even better its a Chrysler color.

Blue88, you're right, it wasn't too scary, just a bit more time consuming.

I used Duplicolor metalcast for the silver basecoat and the orange accents, then I sprayed ppg's clear over that- multiple coats.

The new sbc th400 is in with the Dana 20 transfer case. I had to slightly modify the crossmember so it fit the new tranny but kept the stock location on the frame. I kept the orange theme going on the tranny pan and the xfer case pan.







The factory xfer case to tranny adapter was bent, or so it seemed, so I adjusted the new bracket accordingly. I also took the bracket that mounts from the transfer case to the crossmember and had to modify that by welding on a bracket extreme ion- it still mounts to the stock spot on the crossmember.

The only bad news is the rear driveline is 3/4 of an inch too long!!! Bummer.

That panel is awesome! Nice! (I didnt even know those existed)...

The past 2 days: installed the Super Wagoneer linkage, buttoned up the tranny cover, installed the dash (hooked up the gauges, switches and lights), re-did the steering column and I still don't like the way that column turned out... Round three will come later. I then spent several hours digging thru my stash of spare parts of the horn button and prepping the Super Wagoneer horn button for paint... Pics soon.

I test ft the front driveline ... Hey! She's front wheel drive until I can save up to have the rear driveline cut down to size. So now I've got to get a new windshield installed, fab up a screen for the induction hood, line-x the driver's side floor, fab brackets for the 96ish mustang convertible seat on the driver's side, and buy new shocks... And put on the white wall tires! Meanwhile she can tote me around the block just to double check it all works the way it's supposed to work. Yippee!
Oh yeah, I built a new glove box liner and upholstered it to match, too.
I am trying to figure out a way to insulate the firewall better than factory and not ruin anything in the event it all needs to come back out later.... Still thinking...

Yeah, it's a cart before the horse kind of thing, but I had to get new tires for it before the test drive... This might work. I do need to polish the hub caps and wanna be beauty rings, though. I did re-paint them.

Those tires make it "pop". I love that look.
