Johnson Valley 10-29-11

Post by HeavyIron »

I went out to Johnson Valley last weekend.
Took my 68 J2000 and my son drove his 74 J10
We've been camping out there some 20 miles from the Hammers since the mid 80s.
Used to be we go out there and would not see another soul the entire weekend. It's a bit more crowded now, typically you see a few vehicles go up the nearby road now over the course of the weekend.

I didn't break out the camera until night time for some unknown reason. Tried my hand at night photography. I think it may be time to stop resisting glasses. Sorry bout the focus issues.

Here is my sons J10 with the light glow from Victorville/Apple Valley some 30 miles away.
I took this after 10pm and held the shutter open for a bit. You can see an airplane leaving it's trail on the left.
The truck was illuminated by the campfire and my daughter who couldn't put the flashlight down.

Here's a shot of the mountains/hills we camp near. They are about 180 degrees the other direction from the other picture.
20 minute exposure.

Looking straight up.
Some milky way photo.

Maybe Lasik is the way to go.

Contact lenses changed my world when it came to looking at the stars. I had no clue they looked like they did. I had worn glasses already, but they REALLY distort the world and clarity is just not there.

I am waiting for my eyes to balance out more before I go with lasik.

I actually like that first image :)
