coolant dripping in odd spot

Post by 78 WIDETRAC »

I looked under my 1988 g/w and saw coolant dripping out of the bell housing on the trans. It's bright green, so it's not mixing with any other fluids. My first thought is rear freeze plugs on the block. or possibly a crack in the block. Is there some place else it would leak from. Plus it won't leak unless the jeep is running. ( not even warm, just running). any thoughts? BTW its a 1988 G/W 360, 727, 208

the heater hose is leaking where it goes into the rear of the intake manifold.

Could be the heater hose.
If it's coming out of the inside of the bell housing it could be a freeze plug.
Freeze plug on back of head.
Intake leaking.

I just went out and looked, what I didn't see yesterday was the coolant on the front of the intake pooled up. Seems to be coming from the bypass hose and making its way the the back of the engine, then managing to drip off of the furthest possible spot at the bell. go figure.

Thanks for the tips Blake and serehill.
