I am getting ready to start a 5.3/4l60e swap in my 86 J10. I am basically in the palnning/budgeting stage and have the engine, trans, and drivers drop NP241 already. I'm not going to lift the body at all, it will remain at the stock height. Will I have enough clearance if I decide to purchase a clocking ring and raise the Tcase up an inch? Would love to hear comments from those who have have done the swap and clocked up and also from others who didn't.
A standard 241 (Non-OR) is very close in size. But if it is truly a flat clock, then it may hit the body. The stock 208/229 was clocked down some, just not so far as to hang below the frame.
My hope is that it sits just the way the 208 does now, definitely don't want to buy or have to use the clock ring if I don't have to. I think I can live with lowering the rear cross member if I have to as others have, definitely don't want it to hang to low though.
Thanks for the input.
You will also want to consider the clearance from the oil pan to the front diff. One of our CFSJC members busted a hole in his pan due to lack of clearance. His does not have any lift, stock height.
Thanks Lobie, I will do a little research on that. I plan to use jeepinpetes mounts and think they may place the engine a wee bit higher than others I have seen but I will look into it.
Thanks
