Full Size Jeep Network

Please let me know what you think. I'm not a huge fan of Bushwackers and was thinking about these. I'd like to run 35's but not to crazy about 8" of lift (currently running 31" w/4" lift). These flares are fiberglass and could be scribed, shaved and painted. 3/4 ton axles would also go in. These are XJ Flares.

The way you have those mocked up, are they above the inner fender? It looks like it to me. If you cut above that line where they come together, you'd have to do something with the inner fender wells.

I'd mark on the outside approximately where the inner fenders hit the fenders, and not cut above that point.

Plus you will have to make the rear look pretty close.
It's been done before but the rear is your problem area.
Spec that out first and then drop the front to match.

You're better off finding a POS WT Cherokee on the cheap and not cut up a nice Wagoneer.

FYI you are gonna need at least 8" of lift to run full width axles and 35's. At least.

Or you are gonna have to cut A LOT of the rear.

I think those flares look great. But I don't understand why you are mocking them so high. 35s will only be about two inches closer to the body than the 31s you are running now. Seems you should be able to tack those flares on about two inches higher than the stock wheelwells.

As mentioned, the rears will be the hard part. However, I like the idea and I've Mocked up TJ flares on Wag fronts. It can be done, just take a little off at a time and use a paper template.

Thanks for the comments! The rear would be a pain due to cutting the inner and outer. The front sits just below the seam of the inner and outer. I haven't been able to come to terms with cutting it at all. I have seriously thought about restoring this one building a different one for off-roading.

Too bad you're not close to Seattle. I have the pair of fenders from my '83 Honcho up for $20 that are in OK shape except the flares were roached when it was laid on it's side in the ditch. That way you could put away the nicer ones and see how ug... uh, close your tires will be. The fender opening is just big enough for 33" without lifting

I realize this is an old post. I have been thinking of doing a 4dr lately, and like these flares.

Anybody know what brand/model they are ?? I can't find any that have 2pc rear flare like that.

I talked with Notch at All4Fun in CO last month, he said people have bought different sets to use on the FSJ, the XJ seems to be the closest. I had some from a GC at one point and if i remember correctly they were not far from working. I took pics of the XJ up there for reference if anybody wants to see them. I'll try to upload them.

That's what I would do. That looks like a clean Grand Wagoneer and they are getting pretty rare these days!

What are the advantages to getting WT fenders from BJ's vs cutting and adding flares?

Truth be told i am smitten with the Cherokee Chief Concept and would like to mimic the look.
