It blows my mind that this is a problem that we can't as a community solve.

Dr. M the center trim strip that you got the plastic strip on the roof rib for is wider than the strip used in post. It covers a wider gap so you can install both pieces and secure all side and end mounts. The rear light was supposed to mount to the rear roof brace to send support to the rear head liner. However the light was usually off by a bit and barely hit the brace. The center trim between the pieces is installed last and covers the gap usually. The head liner floats on the trim.

The headliner has not got any worst since the last update a little over a year ago. Still has not bugged me enough to replace it so I guess it is good. People who look at the interior always say it looks great. I never point out the flaws.

For the sagging, something I've always thought about using was thick gauge wire. The kind that holds insulation up between the rafters. Since this stuff has holes in it wouldn't you be able to push wire (not electrical write, thick sign type wire) side to side to help hold the shape?

A ridged wire might work fine if you could find one that would slide into the corrugation. I also think that if the headliner was actually cut proper width it would work fine without the extra support. With no viable headliner patterns to work with that could be a good alternative method.
