'82 Waggy Interior advise

Post by dturner0528 »

I'm gonna be redoing the interior of my '82 Limited Waggy because it's previous owner kinda let it fall to crap.
I'm not the biggest fan of the original tan/faux wood interior in the older models (in my opinion, only the later models can pull it off, not quite sure why). I'm leaning toward a more sleek black/grey pallet, and I was hoping for some opinionated input.
I'm not quite sure what I'll do for the dash yet, but here's my idea for the doors:

I don't want to pay to have the doors reupholstered, and the leather is still in good enough condition, so I was thinking of staining it either black or dark grey, and dying the door carpet a lighter grey. I found some well rated stains online.

To replace the wood strips, I was planning on using this vinyl:

My thanks to jstev4610 for mentioning this site on his '91 waggy redo thread (lookin' good by the way :) )

I'm going to replace the handles with these (the black ones):

So what do you guys think? Any other ideas?

If I was to do it over again, having kids, I would put the stock ones in the attic and buy a set of the plastic ones that MIB sells.

The dash pad is difficult to find in great shape, I've just got a "DashMat" and forgot it. ;)
