Union Pacific RR to restore Big Boy #4014, biggest steam loco ever built. It's the RR equivalent of putting a man on the moon.

They have one of those at the Forney Transportation Museum in Denver. Massive. I can stare at it for hour, trying to get my head around how they engineered it, built it, and maintained it.

I'm glad to see Union Pacific do these kind of restorations. I've seen thier Challenger a couple of times and it's awesome. Never thought I would get the chance to see the Big Boy in action. As soon as the restoration is done I'm packing the grankids in the truck and taking a trip to see it.

I am happy for those UP enthusiasts.
There has been a lot of people wanting to see a big boy roam the rails.

However, being a member of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, I am most proud of our locomotive, the Nickel Plate Road 765
This weekend we had our annual open house.
Here is a very short video of it moving today (I did not take this video)

Here is a video I took last year:

That's a sweet locomotive Bryan. I got all up and personal with it and the engineer one day a long time ago.

I had pulled into a parking lot to crash in the middle of the night while out running around. I was awaken by the train. It was in Noblesville, IN or somewhere around there. Nice rail yard with treasures in it as well.

We have a yard a mile or so from the house here. When I went by the other day they had a new set of Pullman cars I've not seen before. :-bd
