I can't find my nuts- EDIT- My nuts have been found!

Post by Mr. Goatman »

The ones that hold the sway bar end links to the spring plate bracket. It seems to be a weird size fine thread. Does anyone happen to know what it is?

If its an 80+, they are metric, not standard. Cannot recall the size off the top of my head though.

Or...hand any small child a whiffle-ball bat, golf club, etc...I guarantee you they'll locate them for you right quick...

But I digress...

X2, on the post 80's metric. Same goes for the power steering pump adjustment bolts, and IIRC, the alternator too.

Do you have a local ace hardware/lowes/home dept/etc? If so grab some M8 and M10 (and maybe a M12, but I don't think it's that big) fine thread.

One of those will work.

Yeah, It's kind of hit and miss as to what they have. I see several thread options in each. I guess I'll buy and try.

I *think* that *most* hardware stores will pretty much only carry fine thread and coarse thread. I don't remember the numbers for metric though. There might be other thread counts, I dunno.

These nuts?

Image

That's a 7/16" lug nut off a GW I stuck on there, perfect fit.
The factory nuts you see in the background have 3 small dents in them (called Prevailing Torque Type Lock Nuts), sort of messes up the threads so they do not back off, but I know I have used a 7/16" die to clean up the threads when I make the sway bar flip plates.
I don't recall the TPI, that die is at work.
If I go to work tomorrow I will try to remember to grab it.

Tad is right, again. 7/16" x 20 TPI is what fits. These were from an 80 Wagoneer.
