since the smog control apparatus on my engine is missing, broken
or gone, I wish to simplify the amount of remaining vacuum hoses
left.
I am thinking that I could reduce the clutter be having only the distributor,
transfer case, cruise control, master cylinder and the transmission hooked up to the
vacuum system.
What do you all think? I know it can be done. What I need would be
a small diagram of how to hook up the remaining parts. The remaining
canisters I will clean up and seal in zip lock bags as there is nothing
wrong with them.

Not too bad ... is any or all of it there? If all the devices are there, the simplest course is to buy a bunch of vacuum tubing and connect it all. The TAC (thermostatic air cleaner), PCV, vapor recovery are all useful and benign. Manifold vacuum to the carburetor power valve is required for the carburetor to work correctly (tap at base of carb between E and S). You need some kind of vacuum advance connection, and a connection to the brake booster and vacuum reservoir (heater).
I wonder if you will destroy your catalytic convertor by removing the air pump. Air is needed to catalyze the unburned fuel in your exhaust.
You're asking more than you realize - you can't just disconnect it all. There are side effects to consider, and it's likely illegal to tell you how to defeat the systems. As I understand it, Federal law says you have to have all this stuff, even though your state may choose not to enforce.

With a high flow cat the AIR system is total rubbish. EGR keeps the ping monster away. PCV removes the corrosive vapors from the crankcase. Vacuum advance makes it run better. Heater controls are vacuum. That's about it. Heat riser thermactor to the aircleaner to warm the air for winter driving. Oops! Charcoal cannister to catch fuel tank vapors too.
EGR system goes bye-bye. Vacuum advance gets reduced and carburetor main circuit one size richer to make up for it.
AIR system goes bye-bye.
Distributor advance system gets simplified to manifold vacuum until 130* water temperature, ported thereafter.
Everything else is actually beneficial to have.
Not sure what all this would do to the cat. Results could range from plugging up, to a mini-Chernobyl, to nothing.
