Has anybody added electric parking brake to their FSJ? Are any brands better than/easier to use than others? In the beginning stages of reorganizing an 87 FSJ, and it doesn’t look overly complicated. I searched the forum without any luck for related articles, but was surprised not to find anything.

Be the first to write it up and lets see if it works.

I don’t think I have seen an electric e-brake adapted to any vehicle that didn’t come with one from the factory.

You would certainly be the first here. If you go that direction, be sure to write it up for others.

If it fits a CJ 44, it might be made to fit one of our 44s.

I've used these on a couple of cars and my Cherokee is getting one. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/esc-esk001

I have one on my Cherokee, bought the universal brake lines off of Summit or Jegs, works well! All you have is a Hot, Ground and signal wire (Blue) that goes to your keyed switch, only works when the key is on, leave the blue wire off and it will work anytime. Green wire isn't used if I recall right.

The green wire you can hook to an instrument panel brake light to indicate that the brake is on.

Good Copy, I have the Dakota Digital VHX Digital Gauge System so there's a spot for that wire also, haven't gotten that far on the build yet, the brakes are the disc brake conversion/w E-Breaks from BJ's on the rear. You can kinda of see how the cables are run in this photo.

Temporary use only for sure? Battery runs down and brakes release?

No same system on several newer cars, it works well. Many new cars apply the parking brake every time you shift to park.

So it activates and locks in place, then needs switched to release again.....ok makes sense.
