Engine to Transmission Spacer Plate

Post by millerguy76 »

Can the spacer plate between the transmission and engine block be painted?

I wire-wheel and sandpaper cleaned it. I don't want it to rust so I was going to paint it. But it wasn't painted previously so not sure if its supposed to be left bare for a reason.

No reason to leave it bare, paint away :)

Yep, paint it. It's not painted to save cost at the factory. If it rusts, no customer will see it.

Thank you

I read one persons perspective that it was bare for the purpose of grounding the trans and engine. But I don't know enough about that so thought I'd ask the group!

The bolts would handle any ground continuity. Paint it…but I’ve never seen one that was really ate up by rust I don’t think.
