360 from an 89 in an 81 Cherokee, starter help?

Good morning folks.
I am in a bit of a bind. I have a later 360 in my 81 cherokee. The issue is that i had to swap to the newer style starter. with that being said, I wired the new starter solenoid through the old ford style. How do i consolidated the wires and bypass the ford style solenoid?

I have not done this, but I would look at the wiring diagram for an '89 and connect it that way.

Compare to the '81 diagram. They both have a solenoid (but different), and the '89 adds a relay. I see they are similar, with the addition of the relay. Suggest you draw out the '81 and '89 circuits, then make another drawing that shows what you need to change.

If not from there, you should be able to get it locally.
