read disc conversion d44

Post by supergeess »

I have access to a rear end from a 04 Chevy Tahoe with disc brakes. I was wondering if I could make the disc brakes work on my 77 chief d44 rear end. Any input or suggestions is appreciated.

You would need different caliper brackets to connect to the axle. The calipers would work, but not sure if the rotors would. I think those have the integrated drums.

So if I get new weld on brackets, it sounds like the calipers would work? If the rotors have integrated and can not work, any suggestions on rotors(year, make, model) that will work?

Ooo! This is interesting! Subscribed. I have a '77 Chief also that I'm interested in swapping over some heavier duty/disc brake stuff.

Without some serious fab work, I doubt that will work. Probably easier/better to swap the entire axle.

IMHO, you would be better off selling that axle and putting the money into a disc conversion kit. There are a couple of places offering them. ;)
