Anyone running Fox shocks?

Post by AwesomeJ10 »

I picked up a set of Fox 2.0's from Down South Motorsports and put them on the Lexus. 12" front 10" rear. OMG what a difference they make!! It's rides and handles nice and firm like it should. I had to extend the shock towers and have lots of pics if anyone is interested. http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/ ... ounts.html Those shocks should allow the Lexus to fly through the air and then land fairly smooth

They worked out so well that I went ahead and ordered up a pair of Fox 2.0 12" for the front of the Honcho. They are replacing some worn Rancho dual shocks that were given to me by Zone Offroad for the Ultimate Adventure. I already have a new set of Rancho 9000's on the rear of the Honcho. I wish I held out for the Fox on the rear as well.

I told them (DSM) what the Honcho is and how it's built and what I do with it. Here is the valving they put in the shocks.
Comp:
1.60" x .008
1.425" x .008
.010 x .008 Flutter
1.425" x .008
1.350" x .010
1.10" x .010
.950" x .010
.800 x .020
Rebound # 80

I'll fab up the mounts this weekend and install the shocks onto the Honcho on Monday when they arrive.

We are heading to the Walden Sand Dunes in northern Colorado on this coming Tuesday for our annual Memorial Day weekend party. 1000+ people all playing in the sand. I can't wait to see how the new shocks work!

What shocks did you have on the LC before? I really like fox, just not sure they are worth the premium over Bilstein.

The Fox's are definitely worth the cost over the Bilsteins, IMO. But you will only notice the difference at speed in the bumpy stuff. Much better damper, and the best is a good tuner can match the valving up perfect for your rig and driving style. If you drive on the street, or like to bump down the trail, I'm not sure you'll notice much difference.

I want to swap over my TJ to Fox all the way around, but I have to cut them out and weld in new mounts to run them. Newer Fox's don't work with the Ford towers, The older ones did, and I don't find that out until I tried to mount one. :(

I was running OME Nitrogen shocks before. They were pretty old and were pretty much shot. I also had to extend my mounts to fit the much larger Fox.

Can't wait to get them on the Honcho :fsj:

I have those same Fox Shocks on my K5, they are really nice shocks, very durable and handle rebound pretty good. :-bd :fsj:

Thanks for noticing Stuka!! :-bd

We've been sooooo busy getting all the junk together that it's easy to overlook something silly like that. I've moved them over behind the shocks now.

I drove it around the block and the shocks seem great.

We just connected the camper to the Honcho and are about to head up to Walden!

I highly recommend fox shocks, I run them on my tj and beat them like they owe me money on a regular basis and have had zero failures or issue at all for that matter!

yeah, Fox shocks are GREAT!

I ended up moving the reservoirs over (per Stuka's advice), but I failed to think about the reservoir hose. I didn't realize the tire would come up 10" and rip loose the hose, but it did. I ended up having to slap a rancho 9000xl on there. I'm gonna look into rebuilding that shock.

Long story short, I will NEVER own another rig without AT LEAST Fox 2.0's or Kings on there. Good shocks make ALL the difference.
