Axle Snubbers with Lifted FSJ

In the middle of a 2" lift on my 77 Cherokee (I am spending lots more time de-rusting and painting than the actual spring install, so it's taking a bit of time). I have been looking into shock absorber specs with the lift, and wondered if the stock snubbers are adequate? Should there be a taller snubber to prevent the shock from bottoming out (and being damaged)?

You should lower your bump-stops to prevent your shocks from bottoming out.

Yep. Place a spacer between the axle bumper and the frame to prevent the shocks from bottoming out.

Does anyone market these spacers? Seems like a common enough product, although spacing needs would vary.

Mechanically a simple thing. Maybe fab, or SendCutSend, or someone from your local 4x4 forum. Usually these forums have members that fab stuff like roll bars and bumpers. Perhaps you could buy some steel and cut/drill to fit yourself.

A rear Bump from an XJ may work for you. The OEM bump is 2.5" and the XJ bump is 4.5". You'd have to drill and tap new holes to mount them because the mounts of the bumps is a little wider. Or purchase some 2" square tube and make the spacer yourself.

Suggest you measure the collapsed length of your new shocks and compare with the originals. The difference will be as much or more than the thickness you need.

Yes, I understand I need to measure shock travel. The square aluminum looks like an easy way to fab it myself. Thanks for the tips!
