After installing a new radiator, 85amp alternator and rebuilding the carb, I took my 1986 J20 on a short trip to Culver's for a burger.

Nice!

I imbedded the video for you. You just need to put the share code inside the youtube tags. I know its a bit odd, but its how the plugin works.

Code: Select all

The truck looks really good! Does your alternator use 2 belts? If so, did you have any luck finding a matched set? I've read that's a thing of the past and had no luck finding matched sets our alternators running a 2 groove pulley.

Yes, my alternator does use two belts.
When I purchased it, the stock alternator was dead and the A/C Clutch was squealing very loudly.
I purchased from RockAuto the upgraded 83 amp alternator to replace the dead dead unit. (63 amp?)
When I purchased belts, I bought a set for my truck with the optional 83 amp alternator and no A/C.
No, they are not matched.
The inside belt seems to be a hair longer and it flaps a tiny bit when running.
The outside belt is at the proper tension and my guess is it is doing all of the work.
