Carpet Install

Post by 1988SCWaggy »

I finally got the carpet in. Bought it from BJ's. I bought the cargo area carpet without the backing and the passenger area with the backing. A local guy installed it all for a great price. I didn't give him one of the cargo strips (I left it in my garage), but that will get added soon. It looks great and has quieted it a lot. I need to fix the fresh air ducts because they seem to be blocked, pushing water into the front passenger area.

Came out really nice.

The cowl vents tend to fill up with debris. There is a drain hole in the bottom, yours are most likely plugged up. If you pull the vent cover off, you can get access to them.

Thanks. I used the ABS panels from Men In Black. They were great. Carpet guy said they fit perfect.

Very nice! What color did you go with? Ive got a 90 w/sand interior & haven’t decided colors yet. Shooting to replace the carpet this summer. Thx.

7099 Antelope / Light Neutral (Cutpile color)

Got it from BJs. They all get it from ACC. Great service.

looks great! I'm getting ready tp pull my carpet in the next few weeks.
Do you have a link to the panels? I was just going to use the old ones for templates but if these are pre cut and not too expensive I'll go the easier route!

Dutch, Eric (user name Men in Black) has his thread for them over in the Vendors sub forum. Here's a link to the pictures he posted viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1441&start=100#p188786, you can drop him a PM or reply in his thread. They're great panels, I have them too.

Considering putting carpet back in my Chief. I like the U-Pol lining, but I may be ready for a little more quiet and less heat.
Did you see a big difference with sound and heat post install? Do you think adding something like DynaMat is needed also or just the backing?
