Planning next winters project.... AC.... yeah I know well after the summer in living in OK, its going to be sweaty this summer LOL
Just as the subject says. How much glove box is left using a Vintage unit? storage in a J truck is tight and limited as it is, I really don't want to give up anything that I don't have to. I searched through threads, there is plenty of discussion of that but no pics that I could find. So what have you done?
thank you in advance!

It all boils down to how far to the right you mount the unit my 79 J10 with 86 dashboard has a full uncut glove box.
The problem most have is the two heater hose and two ac lines behind the unit thru the firewall, suggest removing the blower motor to access these lines.

Here’s the gen IV magnum in my truck , where the mounting plate is cut matches the oem ac line hole in the firewall , heater hose fittings are off the shelf, ac lines are custom bent by me but you can buy from vintage air straight tubes and bend them your self

I did not mount mine as far right as possible, so my glove box ended up only about 2-3” deep. Better than nothing, and I’d rather have AC than a glove box. I’m sure I could have optimized it all a bit more and gotten more depth though.

This dash is 86 and newer style but I think the steel frame is the same from mid 70’s,
