Been a while since I came back on here, was under the Chief for a while. I have the 700R4 installed to the Chevy350 and the Quadratrac mounts peacefully to the advance adapter I put on between the 700 and QT. AA's instructions aren't great and you actually have to chop off a quarter to half inch of the output shaft on the 700. After that everything was butter.

Except.. it is true that the front output yoke on the QT will collide with the 700R oil pan when putting the front driveshaft back on. The CV joint is very large and cannot be installed since the 700R oil pan is now in the way. Trying to find the solution to that now..
Shagoneer, did you get that 700r4 conversion finished? I'd like to hear about what you did with the front driveshaft problem and how it went overall.
Thanks.

I mean a 46re is like a 727... just an overdrive bolted to it.. so some genuious figured that out back in the 90s.

Youd need an overdrive unit on it somehiw.. no way to just add a 4th gear to these lol

Thanks candymancan, look at me previous post. I asked Shagoneer how his 700r4 conversion is going. That's what I like to do ... ask people who have done it or are doing it right now. It's a real good way to learn actual knowledge on these funky conversions.

Thanks .

Have you sorted out the issue with the front output yoke? Also, did you have to do anything with the stock fuel tank?

I think you have your solution already but I saw this website with a company making overdrive gears for 727s. Not sure if it would work in our Wagoneers though.

Looked and studied this system last year when first brought my '84 GW home, as it has the 727.
IF.....you do not have 4x4, these will work, as they bolt directly to the transmission tail.
To my knowledge they will not bolt up to the transfer case, so a moot point if you want to retain the 4x4 function of your truck.

The gearvendors system bolts to the rear output of the transfer case.

https://www.gearvendors.com/4x4.html

Obviously, you cannot use the OD when 4wd is enabled. The controller for the GV has a 4x4 lockout input so if your transfer case has a signal that you are in 4wd it will keep the GV from engaging.

That said, that's a lot hanging off the back of a tranny. So you'd probably want to add another brace. Also, it will shorten the rear driveshaft a lot.

I run a GV on my 73 Ford Mustang. (351C, C6). I like it. My C6 is 'built' so I didn't want to ditch it for an AOD.

Good to know they can work then on TC systems.
Perhaps I confused it with a different vendor.
Thanks will e for correct information :)
