@solsaks thanks that a huge compliment coming from you.

My new question is do I really need to put the rubber strips back on the inner fender? they do not really seem to do anything, they barely stick out past the edge of the inner fender, so I am not sure of the purpose.

Since I had the inner fenders out for paint, I thought it would be a good idea to replace the clutch linkage and replace the alternator with a 12Si

What color white is that? Looks to be more of a Cream color. Im thinking of Going with a shade of White with Black and Gold accents.

@rocklaurence...... That shade of white is Crappy PO white, I have the parts painted that are missing right now. I can post some photos next to the old paint. If you look back I have a fender that is already painted, but its hard to see in the bad light of the garage. I can post some better photos of the new color white.

Its TCP Global Linen White

Getting closer to the front end being done. Then I can remove the bed so I can paint the cab and bed separately

Thanks for sharing your progress. Looking really good. I'm liking the white wheels and truck.
I'm beginning my 79 J10 rebuild from frame up.
I have same as your initial question. How do the "captive??" nuts go in the rear cab mounts. They were both loose in mine. One bolt came out no problem. The driver side just spun the nut and I had to cut the bolt at the bushings. Can I keep it from spinning to remove and reinstall the new bolt?

Akguy, your truck is making great progress. Huge difference from when you started. Seeing what looks like your home made paint booth brings back recent memories and makes me smile and cringe at the same time.

I've always loved the J trucks. Can't help but think one would look nice some day in the garage next to the cherokee....when it's finally done

@laredomatt To be honest I was really looking for a Cherokee. My wife and I had an 81' for 8 years but this J Truck just fell into my lap.
Thanks for the compliment, I am closely following your build as well. Watching how you do things hoping I do not have to reinvent the wheel.

Between Matt, you and others and the skills, patience, and drive to do these builds, makes me feel like a total rookie!

@johnz10 Thanks, this isn't my first rebuild, so I have learned from previous mistakes. I also look at everyone else's build thread to see how they solve issues that I may run into, I mean we are all working on basically the same vehicle

glad I could be helpful with the rubber. I'm pretty pleased with how mine turned out so feel good about the recommendation.

Body looks ready for paint...can't wait to see what you go with. keep up the good work.

Are you going to undercoat or spray lining underneath the bed?
