Pretty sure that 280/330 hp/torque is the gross rating (i.e. no accessories, air filter, exhaust, etc). Real numbers (net rating) might be considerably lower.

I didn’t even take that into account. How they tested then vs now... wouldn’t surprise me if after this cam and headers tis motor pushes over 400 compared to how the old engines were tested. I know the Dana 27 is a ticking time bomb. Hoping the Dana 20 is good enough lol

The Buick was rated for 230hp (gross power) and 350 lbs.ft, a torquey engine

Ordered a btr stage 2 truck cam, ls7 lifters, new pushrods, springs, long tubes and y pipe last night. That should turn this motor up a bit. Total package cost was 1058 shipped not bad I'd say.

Dropped the motor off at the machine shop. This weekend I am finishing changing all drive train fluids but the trans, and dropping the factory tank. Will be selling the factory tank, I will be using a blazer tank and pump for the fuel injection. Also ordered the fuel adaptor parts needed. Will use the factory 3/8s fuel line for most of the pressure side, will order more 3/8s steel for the return line and for use as tranny cooler lines as I am going to get a stand alone tranny cooler.

Found a set of Dana 44 axles near me. 800 for the front, and rear, complete axles, and some Mickey Thompson alloys. Both axles need some love. Supposedly out of a 77/78 Wagoneer with QT. Axles should be good to be picked up around the 15th of January. Also, ordered the 700r4 TV cable bracketry that will work with my vortec intake from Bowtie Overdrives. Will likely be mid January when that comes in too. Project is coming along nicely. Seems like most of the big parts will all come in around the same time, mid to late January. February will be a thrasher to get her done. Would like to be driving her around my birthday in early March.

Also, motor shop says my block needs a bore on account of water damage, but can reuse stock bearings down low. Will have 330 cubic inches just about. Parts ordered from summit.
