Atlas Suspension

Post by Mreuther12 »

Anyone running these springs? They had a post on IG for 30% all orders from now until Dec 7th thought they would be worth taking a look into. Would be interesting to know if they make springs/lifts for the earlier rigs. Site doesn't have too much information.

Never heard of them. But being that they have their years entirely wrong, not sure I would choose them over a more experienced company.

I was checking out their instagram and they did the springs on the KC Waggy at SEMA this year. That is what raised the question.

I have no doubt they can build springs. But the springs on our vehicles changed multiple times, and were different between various models in the same years at some points. If you look at Hell Creeks ordering page, they ask year, model, bushing sizes, etc.

The Atlas springs most likely only fit 76-91 and not 63-75.

I gave them a call. They would need the spring to match and re-engineer it. So yes they can do it, but it would be custom.

Atlas does have a really good reputation by all the off-road folks I know in SoCal. I have called on them and they also told me that they need to see my stock springs to make custom ones.

I ordered 4" lift springs for my '68 J3500 from Hell Creek. (Post Mount Leafs).

They actually don't make these SPECIFIC springs in house because the demand is so low, and instead they sub contract to Atlas.

I can confirm this because the Atlas label is still on my springs.

Not knocking them, and am glad they took the initiative to purchase the plans to keep these in production. I understand why it isn't cost effective to stock such a niche part along with the tooling to make them.

I haven't drove the truck yet, so I can't speak on how well they ride, but the initial impression was good.

They fit very well in terms of tolerance between the posts and bushings. Construction is good, and materials are quality.

To me, in general, a stack of thin leaves is a good sign.

I purchased these last year, but if memory serves I paid about $1,400 all said and done (bushings, springs, taxes and shipping)

To me the expense was worth not having to relocate leaf perches, steering, spring hangars, etc.

You can definitely do it cheaper using say, K5 Blazer springs, but be prepared for some fab work.

Sure thing. Here are a couple photos so you can get an idea on ride height and suspension travel.

The first pic is on 31"x10.5". The second is on 35"x12.50"

Good to know. I wonder if part of the deal between hell creek and atlas is that atlas can’t list them directly on their page or something.

But they look good quality. Lots of thin leaves which should give a better ride.
