July 19-21 Nevada City Adventure

Post by Renodemona »

The Sierra Nevada Full Size Jeep Club is having a weekend adventure near Nevada City, CA on July 19-21! Camping will be at the Gene's Pineair Campground in Washington, CA, just off of Hwy 20. Friday evening set up camp, and enjoy a round of horseshoes and camp fun. Saturday an easy trail run over Forest Road 36 to Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park. This was the site of the largest Hydraulic Mining operation in the world during the 1880s and includes miles of hiking trails, scenic picnic area by a lake, a preserved historic village, and tons of mining equipment to check out. After a fun day or part there of exploring the park, back down the forest road to camp by the Yuba River for fishing or just relaxing by the water. Head for home Sunday morning. There is a Facebook event, look for the Sierra Nevada FSJs group page.

Camp can accommodate up to 28' RVs or trailers, some sites have hookups. Price varies by size and amenities for each site starting at $24. Lots of shade, toilets, water, general store, Horshoe Pit, walking trails.

Come and enjoy the company of some cool Jeep People, get your rig dusty, and get into nature!

I don't think you understand geography. You just listed a bunch of states (Washington, Nevada,...) Inside another state (California). :P

Also, that's the same weekend as the Ouray invasion, was that on purpose? If you held it the weekend before that one, you could get the West coast people on the way to Ouray as well as those who can't go to Ouray. The way you got it, people have to choose one or the other.

I chose the dates because I'm either out of town or the Kids have stuff every other weekend in July LOL Definitely not competing with Ouray, but some of the local members don't do the facebook thing, so I cross-posted.

It gets more fun when you consider that Nevada City is the county seat of Nevada County, which is in California but touches Nevada yet there is no Nevada City or Nevada County within the state of Nevada. Virginia City, however, is a county seat in Nevada....of Storey County. The town of Aurora (Which is in Nevada) was at one time the Mono County (California) seat and the Esmerelda County (Nevada) seat because they weren't sure which state it was in. Oops!
