Moab Apr 20 & 21

Post by fulsizjeep »

I been trying to get my act together for Moab. We are meeting up with a couple other guys. Jerry who has been to Ouray a couple times and Blake who has nice Honcho. They are running big boy tires. I am just getting to 35s. I found a $40 35" spare today. Getting close...

What are your plans to fill the gap for the fender?

And yeah, Blakes rig is awesome. One of the better built FSJ's out there. It did survive the Ultimate Adventure with as I recall, zero breakages.

Yes, Blake's Honcho is very capable. Jerrry's is no slouch either and he is currently on the road to Moab from Chicagoland.

For now, I am just going to shoot some foam in the fenders. There will be more trimming when the 3/4 ton stuff goes in.

Will try to get some good pix from the red rock playground to share with everyone. :-bd

We had a little over 2" snow accumulated this morning. The sun came out at 12:30 and it was all gone in about an hour. Then nice for a couple hours just in time for more showers before sunset.

Looks good!
That's a big spare to be hauling on and off that roof but it's a chore just getting one of my 37's up into the bed area on mine without help.

Will do Lindel. He posted a video of his Cherokee on Kane Creek trail on the FSJ Ouray FB page.

Well, I was using a 2 lb hammer and a 2x4 block to beat some of the oh crap dents out of the rear quarters and smashed my left thumb. That hurts worse the older I get. Decided the big dents were going to stay wrinkled and got the foam blown in the fender wells. I also fixed the driver door vent latch. Only took 2 years to get to that one. On those cold mornings, that air leak was an eye opener with no need for coffee... :D

Isnt part of the point of the 2x4 to keep your hand back from the target path of said hammer? :P

There's your problem 2 lb hammer,12-16 lb does the trick.Take the 2x4 lay it in against the dents then a pry bar to push it out,no thumbs in the way.

Pry bar. What a concept. :ymblushing:
I smashed this hand setting T posts several years ago, so it could be worse I reckon.

Dear Krista is staying home to tend to a medical emergency with one of our cats. I am a bit sad but will press on to Moab just the same. ;)

Bring me back a rock for my front yard, about the size of a bowling ball.

Odds are pretty good that if I can ever get time to go to Moab it will be either the middle of summer or the middle of winter.

Sorry, I miss the rock request post Tad. I had fuel problems but made it through Steel Bender. Jerry and Blake's rigs performed great. I came home yesterday so i can start on the fuel system starting with dropping the tank.

The weather was beautimous and the company was awesome.
