It would not hurt. My last known fuel stop before Fields, Oregon is Jordan Valley Oregon, with a distance of 124 miles. Not sure which route you plan on taking, but from what I can tell it looks like Winnemucca, Nevada would be the last known fuel stop with a distance to Fields, Oregon of 121 miles.Renodemona wrote:I've got a 5 gallon Jerry Can. Should I grab another before this trip?
A circumnavigate of the Steens with no side trips is nearly 200 miles with no close in known fuel stops except for Narrow's, Oregon, which is a bit out of the way, but doable. Frenchglen, Oregon is hit or miss it seems. Narrow's prices are still high, but probably not as high as Fields, from what I can figure out online. Seems this whole area is nearly gas free and they can ask what prices they want.
I hope to have my auxiliary tank installed before this trip that will give me a extra 25 gallons and then the jerry for another 5. That would be almost enough to go from Jordan Valley to Fields, circumnavigate the Steens and back to Jordan Valley.
Anyway let me know if we need to make a fuel stop in Narrow's. Might have to do some backtracking, but better than no gas. Remember that there will be some side trips as well as the Steens loop.
