In this case it really seems to serve no purpose, other than to be different. I guess though I always tell people asking about ideas for their vehicles that it is theirs and do what they like. So if that's what the owner wants great. At least it looks like it was done right. Maybe he tows heavy things and needs the added capacity of tandem axles.
The concept is cool. I'd be interested in seeing the 9" axle with a pass through - 6wd Wagoneer? Maybe take it on some trails.
Ultimately, I think it would be a novelty that wears thin relatively quick - but then if I have a $90K rig, there's probably more options in the driveway for days I just need to run errands.
Ah, screw it, it's wicked cool and I'd take it!
Maybe the suspension is adjustable so as to jack up one axle and make tight cornering easier?
Although, the front grill looks sort of like a neanderthal - or one of those guys at the gym with no neck...
