Brutus - I have a coleman camper that you can take down there and borrow if you like. I already talked to Dave and he thinks it's ok to use it in the tent sites. PM or text me if you want it. You can look at my FB for pics of it.
I am kicking around the idea of leaving the Jeep at home and just bringing the Sportrac. It has okay clearance, 4wd, a low range. It would be okay for 90% of the trails and I know if I bring it my wife (and dogs) will come on more trail rides. She has not yet made it to Ouray. She could see the old mines on Red Mountain, enjoy the beauty of Governors trail, experience the alpine loop and see the world from the top of Imogene.
No kids. It's the dogs. She's not comfortable with the setup for them. Our one dog is very very old. Without the back seat he would end up sitting low and on the floor. Hard to reach both while driving and even stopped. Plus the Cherokee is much higher than the Ford which compounds the difficulties. I just figure it would be nice for her to go out with us and see more of what is there. I have driven my FSJ to Ouray about a half a dozen times. I have experienced all of the trails in all of their beauty. It would be a shame if she didn't get to see just how awesome it is. I want her to be as comfortable as she can be and enjoy the trip to the max.
It's not like this is the final invasion.. I'll be back with the Jeep.
Bring the comfort for the trail and all her joys, I have a feeling I may end up with my truck on a trail.... With wife kids and all their belongings too. Rock that rig, she might even let you lift it after this trip

Just do it, keep Miss C happy, be nice to see her again.
The Q has done every trail there we asked it to do without issue.
I'm sure the SportTrac will be fine.

This sounds like good reasoning to me.

Well I busted out a lot of to do items this weekend on the 5.3L Super Chief. She is a go for Ouray. The shakedown run last weekend with Shimniok revealed a handful of issues, most of which were minor. I had a really bad belt squeak that ended up being the PS pump and pulley, took a few days and some work to figure that out. I also had loose axle nut on the rear d60 which was causing the seal to leak onto the brakes.

I decided to do some more Ouray prep too. All my GM one ton TRE's were SHOT, so I decided to go ahead and install new D60 high steer arms and make new steering links/new TRE's. I would have finished it this past weekend, but ran out of welding gas. Also decided to service both axles with new fluid.
Should be done in a couple of days and will be ready to hit the highway, then the trails!

Anyways, see all of you in a week!

Which also means I am going to overheat going over the passes to Ouray, but at least there is only three of them.

You gonna get them removed before Ouray?
Happened yesterday, so the stitches are coming with me. I was also going to wash the Jeep and get rid of the bugs, but I will be just collecting more. So I will wait till after to wash it.
