I'm in Georgia too! Seems that there's not many of us on here. Anyway, I have a 4.2 as well. I currently have a Carter 1 barrel carb. My vision is to have an intake from an early 80s 258 that will support a 2 barrel, and then slap a Weber 32/36 progressive carburetor on top of it. Id like to keep my carbureted as well, and the Weber 32/36 is, in my opinion, the best thing for anyone that wants performance without completely killing mpg

Mine is an '85 and I had to weld them. I believe it's the original motor but I didn't check the number. It had 7/16" bolts but I rethreaded the block for 1/2".

The question may be whether those ports actually flow coolant in a 4.0. I don't know but they certainly enter the coolant jacket in the head.

My point is that it's a significant issue that should be mentioned when recommending the head swap.
