1978 defroster hose

Post by Mexdsk »

Does anyone know where to find new Defroster Hoses for my 1978 Cherokee Chief?

Or any times on how to repair .. mine seem to only have the wire spiral remaining ..
have not removed it yet so not sure what the diameter is to see what else I might be able to fabricate to work.

I got mine from napa. My factory ones were all rotted away. The new ones fit perfectly.

It's a commodity item. You can look it up at Dorman Products and match the diameter. http://dormanproducts.com/gsearch.aspx? ... oster+hose Any parts store can get Dorman stuff.

Interesting. Mine on the 80 Honcho was replaced with 2 1/2 inch from autozone 3 weeks ago fit perfect.

This is the original ducting off my 80 J10 honcho. It fits tightly onto duct flanges.

I just did mine last week too. Drivers side only. Duct was 2.5" but I didn't have any of that. I did have a piece of 2" carb preheat tube, the flexible metal kind, that fit INSIDE the defroster duct perfectly so that is what I used, because it was free.

I had replaced mine last winter with a plastic w/ metal ribs I got from a local auto parts store. Harder than heck to install but should last longer than the rest of the jeep I hope.
