Drivers door

Post by CherokeeCraig »

Is the door on a 89 wagoneer going to be the same as on a 79?

Possible, but 79 was the change over year on the door latch.

The 80 door will have different hinges (if they come from the 89 truck) and the door latch will be different, as well as the MOUNTING HOLES for the door latch. You will have to do some fabricating/drilling to change the latches. I'd hold out for a door with the correct latch.

Okay thanks guys. My cousin is needing one and I have the 79 but I'm not familiar with the later models. Anybody know where one's laying around? He's in Louisiana.

I mounted an 88 REAR door on the 74, yes it requires some mods... the hardest being fitting the length of the manual regulator... cut weld install... then do it again so the window rolls up all the way.... the latches swap easily.... for your swap, it may need some extra holes.
