Suspension for 74 J10

Post by JCook5003 »

Hey Guys-

Who makes suspension for the older post mount rear spring FSJ's? Whose is the best? I'm looking for an affordable 4" kit.

Pretty sure it's either local custom $$ or HellCreek: http://hellcreeksuspensions.com/
There website is a bit goofy but they reply real fast.

I just saw your other post about having two trucks, 74 and 78.
I have been the post mount route several times with both my rig and several others over the years.
Personally, and it's not just me, the 74-75 years are the hardest to deal with especially for Jtruck rear suspensions.
If the 78 frame is useable I would go that route.

Em and I are restoring a first year Cherk with the lowest VIN number FSJ folks have ever documented.
Even with that and wanting to stay pretty true to the first year stuff we are using an 82 frame simply to avoid that rear suspension weirdness from 74-75.

The rear is the same post style as my '73 J4000. If the current springs are still okay, shackle flip takes an afternoon to do.

IMPO I would check ALCANSPRING.com they will build the springs for the rig, use and lift you have and you cant beat the ride or flex.

if you didn't bleed you weren't working on a FSJ
