Someone out there would probably be glad to trade you, but the T176 means it's 6 cyl? 3 options for trans: 727 or 998 (driveshafts may need swapping as well as trans crossbar) Tcase will bolt up but could be NP208, NP219 or NP229. Third option is to convert to AW4 auto but it requires some custom work (trans crossbar, driveshafts, wire in the controller or go EFI if 6 cyl along with the trans controller harness)
It is v6, it has the original 258 i6 in it, I'm new to all this stuff so I'm not real sure how to go about doin all this stuff, I have pulled the motor, and transmision, and looked up the casting numbers is how I know what I have now
That's an inline 6. V6 has 2 heads with an intake between them like a V8. If the 6 cyl isn't dead, you have the AW4 option to think about. Or a 4.0L/AW4 combo. '91 up is 23 spline so you can run an '80 up FSJ tcase, or if it's pre '80, you can use a Dodge NP208 for RH drop (that's front driveshaft) If you got 4.0L and AW4 with the EFI, '91 to '95 XJ is simplest to put in (all under the hood except the trans controller which has it's own harness up under the glovebox) You'll need a Hydroboost brake system to clear the intake and a Grand Cherokee or Wrangler waterpump and fan. '93 Grand Cherokee with AW4 is another option, but the wiring SUCKS!
