CAD Designs (for fsjs and non fsjs)

Post by thej10guy »

A few weeks ago my dad asked me to design him a hood ornament for a custom 40 Cadillac that he built a while ago. So after messing around for a few days I ended up coming up with what is in the bottom corners.

After I had some fun with that, I figured I’d try to design some other stuff for my truck. The first thing I did was try to come up with a tube front bumper (to kind of match my tube rear bumper, fit the style). So the three pictures of the bumper above is what I came up with. I don’t know how close it is to the correct dimensions but I think it’s pretty close. It’s mostly just for the concept anyway.

After designing that, I figured I’d try to make the badge for j10’s that go on the fender. It’s not perfect, the 0 is definitely not right but it’s pretty close.

I just finished my shot at a stepside roll bar. This was surprisingly difficult. I have no idea how close the dimensions are, I just kinda guessed for what they would need to be. But I think it also turned out pretty well.

For anyone interested, the website I used is called onshape. There is a free version (there’s also a pro version that costs money but this is more than sufficient for what I’ve been doing). You just sign up with an email.

Some cubic inch, JEEP, AMC, Grand Wagoneer, CJ5, CJ7, badges would be fun too.

Yeah thats a good idea. I’ll need to figure out if there’s a way to input letters into the program, the 4x4 and j10 I just made with rectangles and circles lol. I will definitely look into it more to see what I can do.

Well I did quite a bit more creating. I figured out how to add text and I also figured out how to add colors. I think they’re turning out pretty good. Would there be any interest in these? They would be 3d printed in one color, (probably like red or blue or hopefully black). They would also be significantly cheaper than the new repopped ones

I’d be up for 4 of these in 3” diameter.

Just so you guys are aware, these are all about an 1/8” thick. They don’t have any sort of mounting things on them (I’m pretty sure most were attached with adhesive anyway).

Some more designs. If you guys have any ideas let me know. It’s pretty fun messing around with this. Tomorrow I’m going to talk to my teacher about getting some printed and cost etc.

A couple more designs. Looking to start printing them next week for the following week hopefully. Will hopefully know about price in the next day or two. Just trying to figure how much it’s gonna cost to print them.

Two more. Did them for my brother because he has an eagle and comanche. The comanche one I changed up a bit because the basic comanche badge is already reproduced.
