Ouray FSJ invasion 2024

Post by Grand_Wag_85 »

*****2024 Information ********

Invasion Dates: July 17th thru July 19th 2024
Potluck and Raffle: July 18th

Tent sites reserved: T12-T25
If you aren’t going to stay in a tent, please let them know you are with the FSJ group and you will get 15% off. Must be reserved BEFORE April 30th, 2024.

BIG ASK: If you find that you need to cancel your reservation and you are in one of the tent sites listed please ask the group to see if anyone is interested in the site. Otherwise they just go back into the pool for all versus just our group.
Also in between sites T30 and T31 are the horses, so keep that in mind when reserving your site.

It’s that time of year. July is fast approaching and we need to come up with a theme and a logo for 2024.

In 2023 we had several memorable instances involving water crossings for myself and Jeff Kirby.

I have a loose idea harkening back to the movie jaws. Something along the lines of “I think you need a higher intake” or “just when you thought it was safe to go back to Ouray”.

Totally open to ideas and suggestions. Towards the end of the month, I’m going to have my graphic designer who did the 2022 logo start working on a logo for 2024.

Just the other day, I thought to myself, "Oh crap Ouray is already 6 months away." Let's see if I can make it in the Jeep this year!

Right! Every year it sneaks up on me. Hoping to have my Wagoneer ready this year and possibly the honcho.

As many already know we lost Tad this year. We are working on a special shirt for him with the proceeds going towards a brick for Tad.

T shirts are now available!

https://www.bonfire.com/store/fsj-2024/ ... -0Lxkor0jJ

Our 2024 T-shirts (and Sweatshirts!) are now available for order!! This year’s theme was inspired by all of the ‘amazing’ water ‘incidents’ at last years invasion 🏔️🌊

Place your order by June 23rd (midnight) and they’ll be shipped directly to Sarah Darricau and will be available for pickup at the KOA the week of the invasion.

Proceeds benefit OMR!

Thank you.

Woohoo!

We are also doing a standalone T-shirt for Tad but the graphic designer won’t have it ready until the end of the month. Stay tuned

Another great Invasion! The J20 made the trip this year, though we did tow it. Other than minor issues and tuning bugs it performed well again.

First day wheeling - Animas Forks to Corkscrew

By Wednesday more of the crew started arriving and we went up Stoney Pass

Thursday the crew went up Yankee Boy, I joined for a bit before breaking off back to town. Potluck and raffle in the afternoon was a blast as always and Ouray Fire and Rescue came out with a land cruiser they were auctioning off (not pictured).

Friday I got a late start and hauled ass up to Ophir to catch the group, ended up catching them on the way down Ophir to Telluride. Grabbed a drink in Telluride and broke off to get over Imogene early. Got caught in some rain and hail on the way down and passed several runners trudging through it, happy to be warm and dry hahaha.

This year was a special year for us as my Wife and I eloped on Saturday! During invasion 23 we did our engagement pictures in Telluride and upon sharing that were shown a special spot that would become our elopement location this year. We were a little nervous on the way up as it was raining and sleeting and at one point our photographer needed to be pulled up a steep slippery section of rock (all while I was in my suit)! Fortunately the weather cleared right as we reached the top and turned out perfect. We drove down in the dark and I got to try out the debated "ARB" lights which regardless of brand worked great.

Sunday we made it home and I assessed the truck to find the gas tank kissed some rocks on the trail producing two large dents on both sides of the tank. It looks like I'll be working on tucking it up higher in the near future.

Congratulations Seth! When it’s the right girl it’s easy to do😎

Looks like a fun trip, sure wish I could have made it, was loaded up and ready to leave and got a call…. all good, just a tense couple of days.

Absolutely beautiful country, and hope all attended without any major incidents. How many folks in attendance this year? How far was the longest trip to get to the event? Sounds like you need a better skid under the tank. Congrats on you/bride milestone :)
Thanks for posting pics here, and are there more anywhere besides fakebook? Would love to see more if out there.....maybe some YT?

Thank you gentlemen. I can't recall the number of attendees, but I think around 50. 10 FSJs in total with an even split between trucks and wagons. Mark in the brown Brougham Wagoneer made the longest drive from St Louis MO. Most of the pictures are on FB, though I know Sean has alot. Just need him to post them. I know he has some videos as well, including his redemption water crossing of Animas Forks.

I wouldnt say it was a particularly small crowd for a typical year though quite a few did cancel last minute. The bridge shutdown on 50 the past few months also played a factor for people travelling from the East. Still a good time, hopefully we can get more next year... and start planning for a big 25th invasion in a few years?!?!
