New to me surviver

Post by K&B5kmile »

This is my 73 J4000 survivor, the jeep is a 360, th400, d20 with 4097 miles!!! The truck spent its whole life in Montana on a farm and never really left the farm. It now has a home in Kansas and I’m so glad to have it. I am currently working on saving the rust free pans from getting holes. It’s still a lot of work after sitting forever, the engine needs pulled to have all new gaskets put in it, and I’m sure the fuel and brake system is trash

First post! Welcome from Boston.

Truck looks great. What are your plans for it? JMO - I'd drive it around for a while before I took on any big jobs like pulling the engine. The gaskets can be changed one at a time, and with the engine in the truck. The only gasket I can think of that requires pulling components will be the front main seal on the transmission. If that leaks, you can look at the oil drips; ATF is red and easy to identify from motor oil.

Nice rig. Not too much rust for a northern truck!

Looking forward to seeing the progress on gasket replacement. I'm looking at doing this myself.

Cheers from Nor Cal, nice find.

Clean the oily caked oil to find the origin of the leak$.
