According to the '62-73 parts book, "Avocodo Mist" is a metallic. So is "Olive Mist." Different but both metallic. Check the '62-73 TSM posted on the Tom Collins site. Depending on the year, both will be listed as "(M)" Metallic or overtly as metallic. Later listings with "Poly" are also metallic.
A re-paint needs to happen after a few subtle mods and some minor rust repair, but I'm not married to the original color (a metallic of some sort). I'd prefer a "Sage Green" that is not metallic for below the waistline. I had thought that I might have an OE option in the Olive Mist color, but I guess not.
Above the waistline will likely be 60's Ford Wimbleton white. I originally thought Wimbleton might be too creamy colored, but the more that I looked at it, the more that I liked it.
I need to look and see the color of Olive Mist. For reference my truck is avocado mist and it is metallic. I do like Wimbledon White with mine, rear bumper is that color. I’ve also played with the idea of 2 tone with it and the avocado mist.
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.
PaintRef shows a color swatch http://www.paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintde ... Mist|11508 - hard to say much from the color on screen, but it looks more silvery than Avocado Mist Poly. Both are attractive colors IMO. Sold a lot of CJs in 1972 in Avocado Mist Poly; popular. Gone in '73.
The only green solid color I recall was Olive Drab, which you could get as a fleet color. There was a Renegade Yellow from '72 on which looks greenish to me, almost fluorescent. The Ren1 had a bright green too - "Mint Green" named after the Mint 400. In 1975 they offered Green Apple as a solid color; ugh, not to my taste.

In some of Yeller's pics the bumper looks very creamy - maybe even too much, but in person it looks perfect. Also shows how "untrue" colors can look on a monitor. Some sort of Sage Green is my desire, the colors heading towards OD green, dark green, or a bright green don't do much for me. I have the paint code for a late model green that is my current favorite, I just thought that if I could find a vintage Jeep color that I liked that it would be a neater solution.
I didn't find any paint or trim tags on the Wagon with a brief search. I assumed that if present that it/they would be either on the firewall or in the driver's door jam, but there are only VIN plates and stickers. Glove box door is screwed shut because the HVAC live right behind it.
Maybe not relevant now, but I was curious and looked this up.
Here's a '70 Renegade 1 in Mint Green:

There was also a "Bell System Green" 133 fleet color which became "Forest Green" 504 in '72 (RIP Bell System?) I imagine it was between John Deer Green (light) and Mack Green (dark). BTW Kirker has Mack Green 40946, which is a nice color. That would look good in two-tone.

I reviewed the pdf's that I made of each thread and started with the first one. There's a pic early in the first thread that shows the firewall painted black. Looks like it was freshly painted in the pic and it is the first one posted that really shows the firewall straight on. Oh well.
I like that color. Mix it with some Wimbledon white and it would be perfect.
I’ve always been a fan of tropical turquoise and white. Seen it both ways with fleet white and Wimbledon white. It needs a lot of one color or the other, more accent than big split 2 tone.
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.
I am seeing it as the roof and what little of the pillars is exposed as Wimbleton White, with from the bottom of the windows down in a Sage Green. Hoping that it looks very period even if one or more of the colors used are not.
Lee is currently quoting 1.5 weeks to rebuild the box, so I need to get that off this weekend. Looks like I'm going to have to remove it to be able to tell if the PS pump is an iron or AL body. If iron then Lee can rebuild it. If AL then probably not.
Also hope to at least start on making the fuel filler neck work with modern fill nozzles.
i saw 1 that color in reno,nv 2 weeks ago it really looked good with a fresh paint job it will look really cool besides all the door jambs etc wouldnt have to be repainted also just my observation and 2cents

Somebody is a Blue Oval fanboy
I dunno, his "Bronco" has an LS in it......
But, don't be too concerned as the OP is one. See: https://www.gofastbroncos.com/forum/vie ... =33&t=9789
A good friend in my youth had a '65 Mustang Fastback in Wimbleton White. Built 289, close ratio Top Loader, 3.50 geared 8" with a Detroit. That thing would bark second and pitch the car slightly sideways without any effort, it was a hoot to drive! Haven't seen him in years, but I'll bet he still owns the car.
