Looking for a replacement electric horn for a 64/65 Wagoneer. The stock dual horns are kinda toast and the original mounting location now has dual batteries there.
Compact, single horn. Not a dual setup. I intend to put it in the valence area behind the pie plates facing the Rhino grille opening. I am wanting to mount it to the side where the "air baffle" usually goes. I can easily fit one horn here of the stock size, but the more compact the better.
Legal, but not super loud, more of an: "ahem-- the light changed", or a "Hi, I am a Jeep!" kinda sounding horn. I will put an air horn in later for when I really need to get someone's attention.
Durable off-road, vibration and weather resistant.
The really deep horns from the '70s really heavy duty trucks (I know Ford had them) sound really cool, and are relatively loud. Not like an air horn but they'll get some attention.
There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.
I got the 4 horn setup out of an '80s Caddy, paired with the original 2 Jeep horns it has the exact tone as a train just not as loud. Sounds pretty sweet and was super cheap.
