Question about dashboard

I have a 83 Cherokee and want to upgrade the dash with a Grand Waggy dash pad. Is it possible to just bolt the Waggy dash pad onto my current dash?

Also check TSM parts list for each, and if they are the same, should show the same part number. Or maybe a dimensional view to see if all points line up for mounting and size?

As I recall, you must remove the windshield to remove the dash pad. Not trivial.

T, is correct the windshield must be removed to access the 5-6 screws that are hidden under the windshield gasket , and no you cant have easy access to them as there at the base of the glass, 2 the speedo cluster has to come out to reach the nuts that hold the front of the pad to the dash frame as their is no room on top of the cluster, also the glove box has to come out to reach the nuts on the pax side, once removed you probably have to drill a few more holes, that dont exsist, for the later model crash pads, all said you will see the original dash with the added hole for the crash pads. i removed mine to repair and cover mine

the radio may have to come out too, mine didnt have one installed and i did something different

the wind shield i had removed and reinstalled by a guy who does this for a living at his day job , side work 100.00 bucks, but i removed all the glass and trim for the paint job,so there wouldnt be any paint mask peeling later

oh the retaining nuts are called pall nuts ,stamped out type you probably have seeen them before just didnt know what they were called

Thanks for the replies. That's crazy that the windshield has to come out to get to the screws but the pictures don't lie. Thanks for posting those Srdayflyer. The dash is coming out anyway as I'm going to use a Vintage Air Gen V and put the outlets in the dash. Looking at Wim's build thread gave me some ideas on how to do mine. I'm updating the dash and interior to be nicer and more functional since it'll be used as touring vehicle for us so that's why I'd like to update the dash pad. We do a lot of road tours and it'll be seeing a lot of miles.

I assume you realize the Grand pad covers the area in front of the passenger. I don't like it but to each his own. I don't like the Cherk dash much either which is why I upgraded to the early dash.

Yes I do. That's the main reason for doing this. It looks more eighties compared to the Cherokee dash.

I can be done without the windshield but you gatta cut the vinyl where it meet under the gasket.

Ive removed two of these.. and they were already cracked apart from under the windshield.. so it was actually 100% wasye of time to remove the windshield
