I know there are not any retractable running boards for the old grand wagoneers but I am hoping someone might know of a particular brand/model that could be easily modified to fit an 89. It has a lift kit on it and I am older now and it sure would be nice to be able to have a step up. Thanks.
You might be able to make something work with the Ford Expedition hideaways from the 00s or early 10s. The rocker looks normal, and you open the door and it comes down making a step. Wouldn't be able to use the rocker and it would obv need some work and wiring, but you might be able to try that. Not sure how available parts are and such, but it's pretty slick on those, and would be awesome on GW.
Unfortunately Idk the year/options required to get that; I've just seen it a few times and thought if you were doing a side step, that was how to do it.
There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.
SonoraEd used steps made for a Wrangler JK. A 2dr in his case as its a J10, but 4dr Wrangler boards may work. You would need to check the length as JKU's have a longer wheelbase than a Waggy.
