Steering box bracket

Post by sierrablue »

Looking for a steering box bracket...preferably a cast iron one from a '74-'78 (I think that's the range) Wagoneer/Cherokee/J10. Pretty sure my homemade one is dying and I'd feel better on long road trips with a better one. I can also use a steel one from a '62-73 with the Saginaw box.

Also if anybody has a ZJ steering box they want rid of, let me know!

Just, if anybody has a parts rig or whatever, it would be helpful.
'71 Wagoneer (DD)
-B350 (HEI, iron 4-barrel, Edelbrock 1406), TH400, D20
-'74 D44 front (nonpower discs)
-custom headliner
-Front shoulder belts (rears eventually)

There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.

According to what I've read, all of the 1/2 tons of the year range that had the cast iron bracket have it. Shouldn't be that special.

I am fairly sure this bracket is unique to the FSJ’s prior to 1976 that use the Saginaw power steering gear.
I used to name my FSJ’s after their previous owners, I realized I had too many with five named Rick.

Dang raccoons again!

Rust is a color too.
