Heater blower wheel fan replacement

Post by blueday »

I replaced my heater blower motor with a stock replacement from parts store. Of course as I pulled the old motor/wheel out the wheel blades start breaking off. So got online and found 1 Amazon and summitracing said fits (four seasons #35534). It doesn't. It's about 1/4" to large in diameter (6") compared to the stock one (5.75").

So I have an option of modifying the box to fit this wheel by taking about 1/8" off the box opening. Spend another $30 plus from teamgw. Or possibly try the Buick wheel I read about on here which was used with the chevy motor.

Anyone have a correct part# to buy or am I better off just trimming my heater box to fit?

Thanks

Ryan

Have you checked the wheel and motor from a late 70's Chevy blazer/truck

I have not. I already bought a new blower. Just trying to find a wheel that'll work well.

If one of the parts stores has a late 70's wheel in stock I may see if it'll fit.

I'd try that too--I haven't actually tried swapping them around but seeing the square bodies apart I'm like "I've seen that blower motor before"

There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.

Year, model, equipment? I could look at the books if you specify.

Did you search here and at IFSJA? The late-70s CJs can use a motor and cage from a GM pickup. You could search the other Jeep forums for this possibility. Might be the same as your Jeep, if we knew what the heck we are talking about.

Put that info in your sig file and it will appear in every one of your posts.

Yeah sorry....it's a 1990 Grand wagoneer.

Digging through dimensions it looks like the late 70s Blazer will work. Will probably have to do a spacer as mentioned in other threads.

I Can't find one from parts stores and even looked their four seasons catalog dimensions to match the stock size. Team gw has a wheel showing but is rather not deal with them.

I know other people have had issues with TGW, but for the odd Items that they have, that others do not, I have bought a few things from them and to be honest they have been fine to deal with. I know others have had problems.

I'm with you. I've ordered from them once and no problems. Read plenty of negative things. I ordered from parts store because they can get it to me by Friday. I'll let yall know how it works out.

I have a ‘77 Chief w/ a 360. I broke my heater fan wheel as well. Here is the model of the wheel that I ordered that fit. Do not have my chief running yet so haven’t tried it. But so far all looks good.

Brand: Four Seasons
Model number: 35605
Other model number: 5080980040
eBay item number: 284160615446

Hope this helps!

Tio, not sure if how different the motors are through the years. The motor for my 90 says it's clockwise rotation which matches the wheel(s) I purchased.

The # 35605 shows it's a counter clockwise wheel. Just a heads up for something to check out.

Interesting. It matched mine so it appears I’m good. Time will tell. But thanks for the info. 👍🏾
